I have often tried to remain neutral as a business practice but I am moved by Ginetta Sagan who wrote, “Silence in the face of injustice is complicity with the oppressor”. I recognize the great privilege and responsibility of owning a small business. It provides a platform to use our voice for the greater good. I will always work to support what is equitable, kind and humane. This morning, I was inspired to use my business to take action. Please join us this Saturday, both locations will be donating 10% of sales to RAICES (Refugee and Immigrant Center for Education and Legal Services) Thank you – Jamie

I had the idea years ago to reach out to Washington School for the Deaf to teach a class for myself and staff on how to better communicate with and serve the deaf community, as I am always looking for ways to better serve others. They graciously received my idea and offered to present this class at no charge. While we originally thought to gear this toward businesses and hospitality, it is a general presentation that will include conversational signs and is open to everyone. I value the privilege and opportunity that owning a business provides, and I’m excited to host more community events in the future that focus on connection, learning, and growth. See you there! – Jamie
